It will be an historic game for Saturday's first round of the NCAA football playoffs when Monmouth College (9-1) travels to Angola, Ind., for a noon (ET) kickoff with Trine University.
Saturday's contest will mark the first meeting between the Scots – champions of the Midwest Conference – and Trine – winners of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. A familiar Monmouth foe awaits the winner the following weekend as Wartburg – Monmouth's Week 2 opponent – hosts Franklin with the winners of this weekend's games to meet in the second round on Nov. 25, also at noon local time.
Monmouth is making its second back-to-back NCAA appearances after accomplishing the feat during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
